Water and Wastewater Systems

The following is a list of water systems (WS) within the Township:

Val Harbour WS Part Lot 24, Concession 7

The Val Harbour subdivision was developed in 1973 by a private developer. The development consists of 74 residential lots, of which 62 lots were occupied in 2015.  The total estimated population currently connected to the water system is 161residents based on the Township of Ramara’s average population of 2.6 people per dwelling. The area is serviced by 3 ground water wells, a treatment plant consisting of Chlorination, reservoir storage and 4” distribution main.

Davy Drive WS Lot 17, Concession 7

 The Riverleigh Woods Subdivision was developed in 1977, consists of 42 residential lots.  In 2015, 34 lots were occupied and 8 lots were vacant.  The total estimated population is 88 residents based on the Township of Ramara’s average population of 2.6 people per dwelling.  The subdivision is serviced by 4 groundwater wells.  A Treatment Plant consisting of Chlorination, Iron and Manganese segment with a 2” distribution main.

Park Lane Crescent WS Lot 25, Concession L

The Park Lane subdivision was developed in 1974, consists of 19 residential lots.  In 2015, 17 lots were occupied and 2 lots were vacant.  The total estimated population currently connected to the water system is 44 residents based on the Township of Ramara’s average population of 2.6 people per dwelling. The subdivision is serviced by 2 Ground water wells.  There is a Treatment Plant consisting of Chlorination, Iron and Manganese removal with a 2” distribution main.

South Ramara

The Heritage Farm distribution system supplies water to 76 lots in the Heritage Farm subdivision, which was developed in 1982 by a private investment corporation.  The subdivision is located in Part Lot 16, Concession B.  There are 5 lots on Florida Avenue, which is directly south of the subdivision, that are connected to the distribution system by a servicing easement. 

The Mara Shores Estates distribution system supplies water to the 36 lots of the Mara Shores Estates subdivision located on Lot 15, Concession C, and 8 lots on Furniss Crescent.  The Water Works has supplied the Mara Shores distribution system since August 28, 2001 when the connecting watermain was put into service.

In 2015, a total of 100 lots were connected with an estimated population of 260 residents.  This is based on the Township of Ramara’s average population of 2.6 people per dwelling.

The Water Works consists of a surface water treatment plant (WTP), with Reservoir storage and distribution main, connecting Heritage Farm and Mara Shore Subdivisions.   

Bayshore Village Water & Lots 21 and 26

The Water Works serves the Bayshore Village residential community, which consists of 348 lots located on Lots 21 and 26 in Concession 6 in the Township of Ramara. In 2015, there were 319 developed lots. The total estimated population currently connected to the water system is 829 residents based on the Township of Ramara’s average population of 2.6 people per dwelling.  The subdivision is serviced by 3 ground water wells.  There is a treatment plant with Chlorination, reservoir storage and 6” distribution main.

Brechin/Lagoon City Water

The Water Works serves the communities of Brechin and Lagoon City, which include both residential and commercial properties.  In 2015, the number of service connections is estimated to be equivalent to 1258 single family dwellings, and the number of customers was estimated at 3,145, based on an average population of 2.5 persons per dwelling.  This area is serviced by a surface water treatment plant which includes underground reservoir storage plus water tower and distribution main.

Somerset/KnobHill Water

The distribution system serves the Somerset/Knob Hill subdivision located on part of Lots 8 and 9, Concession 14 in the Township of Ramara (formerly Rama).  The development consists of 20 residential lots.  In 2015, 17 lots were occupied and 3 lots were vacant.  The total estimated population currently connected to the water system is 44 residents based on the Township of Ramara’s average population of 2.6 people per dwelling.

The following is a list of the Sewage Treatment Systems (WWS) within the Township: 

Bayshore Sewage Treatment System

The Bayshore Village Sewage works serves the Bayshore Village residential community consisting of 348 lots located on Lots 21 and 26 in Concession VI in the Township of Ramara.  In 2015, there were 319 lots serviced by municipal sanitary sewer.  The total estimated population currently connected to the sewer system is 829 residents based on the Township of Ramara’s average population of 2.6 people per dwelling.  This system consists of two pumping stations, force main, 8”collection main and spray irrigation treatment system.

Lagoon City Sewage Treatment Plant

The 2,273 m³/d STP started operation in November 1987.  The plant treats sewage generated in Lagoon City, a resort residential community, which includes both residential and commercial properties.  In 2015, the number of service connections is estimated to be equivalent to 1159 single family dwellings, and the number of customers was estimated at 2,408, based on an average population of 2.5 persons per dwelling.  This treatment system consists of 8 pumping stations, force main, 8” collection system, extended aeration, activated sludge treatment plant.
