The first week of May (May 1 – 7) is a time for communities, families and friends to unite to mark Children's Mental Health Week.
This week raises awareness about the importance of child and youth mental health and reducing the stigma associated with accessing vital support.
This week also focuses on the following:
- Ensuring that families know about the availability of free, accessible and inclusive child and youth mental health services.
- Ensuring families can access services to help create healthy, thriving, connected communities supporting personal growth and well-being.
- Understanding it is essential to provide early intervention and treatment for child and youth mental health.
- All children, youth and their families needing mental health support must have access to services when and where they need them.
How can you participate?
- Wearing the colour green.
- Taking part in an outdoor physical activity to support mental wellness.
- Sharing how you are shining green on social media with the hashtags #CMHW20233 #shinegreen.
Why the colour green?
The colour green is used to celebrate child and youth mental health as it represents hope, growth, and transformation.
