Lagoon City Parks and Waterways Commission Meeting - January 11, 2024
2024-2026 Weed Spraying Request for Quotation (RFQ)
Staff provided the request for quotation (RFQ) for the Aquatic Weed Spraying for a three-year term.
The closing date for the RFQ is March 1, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., and staff will provide the results of the submissions at the March Lagoon City Parks and Waterways meeting. The Commission approved the form of the presented 24-26 Weed Spraying RFQ.
North Footbridge
Staff was directed to re-survey the levy-paying residents of Lagoon City and allow only one submission per household. Staff received and verified 232 responses from residents.
The Commission approved receiving the North Footbridge survey results as presented and for staff to instruct the engineers to proceed with the rehabilitation of the North Footbridge.
Infrastructure Updates and Follow-Up List
- The Commission discussed allocating the 2024 budgeted $10,000 to address hedging, beautification and maintenance of L.C.P.W.C. facilities and approved for staff to provide a five-year plan that includes staff, Commission and the community’s feedback and suggestions.
- The Commission discussed a plan for allocating the 2024 budgeted $2,500 for a Community Engagement event in the Spring in partnership with the Lagoon City Community Association and other organizations. Commissioner Shoesmith and Councillor Bell will be the leaders in organizing and planning the event and will provide updates at the monthly L.C.P.W.C. meetings.
- The Director of Infrastructure advised that the Township engineers are still working on the noise study of the water movers in Gondola Lagoon and are investigating sound mitigation from the pump equipment with the manufacturer. The study will be presented at a future LCPWC meeting.
