Lagoon City Parks and Waterways Commission Meeting - December 14, 2023
North Footbridge
Due to skewed survey results, the Commission requested at the November 9, 2023, meeting that Lagoon City levy-paying residents be re-surveyed with additional questions to ensure that only one per household levy-paying resident answers the questions.
Staff will mail the survey to each levy-paying resident. The survey can be filled out online or by paper and is available until Thursday, January 5, at 4:30 p.m.
The Commission approved the survey questions attached to Report LC-13-23 with QR Code to provide further information and for online submission. The Commission also approved the survey to be distributed to one per property of the LCPW Levy paying residents.
Infrastructure Updates
- To the staff’s knowledge, all the bubbler systems are shut off for the season.
- Dredging behind the mews is complete. Staff encountered issues with more material than expected needing to be removed from behind the mews. As a result, the dredging for the secondary locations (Gondola Lagoon and near the off-load site) will resume in the spring or fall of 2024.
- The bubbler system behind the mews was installed this past week by Weeds B’Gone, and the system is fully functioning. Weeds B’Gone will provide the Commission with a map and future expansion plans in the new year. Staff will work over the winter to create permanent electricity solution to ensure the system is up and running in the spring.
North Footbridge – Inspection of shore walls
The Commission approved the request for the infrastructure department to schedule a conditional inspection on the four adjacent shorewalls before any construction on the north footbridge begins.
Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority Research Partnership
With the Township signing the MOU with Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority (LSRCA), the Commission approved a request to explore a partnership with the LSRCA to research solutions for sodium chloride and phosphorous reductions in the lagoons for 2025.
