Lagoon City Parks and Waterways Commission Meeting - October 12, 2023
Proposed 2024 LCPW Budget
The Commission discussed the proposed 2024 Budget of $1,590,300, which includes the following:
- Constructing footbridge fencing
- Expanding beaches
- Equipment purchases
- North Footbridge construction or removal
- Engineering report and options related to the noise of the water movers
- Additional diffusers
- Community Engagement
The Commission approved the proposed 2024 LCPW budget with a 3% increase in the annual base levy and will forward the budget to Council for final consideration.
Infrastructure Update
The Director of Infrastructure provided the following update to the Commission.
- The township received a permit from the Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority (L.S.C.R.A.) for dredging and beach revitalization. The infrastructure department is awaiting quotes from contractors and will move forward with the project if the quoted price is within budget.
- The 2023 aquatic harvesting season is complete. This year, staff found that weed harvesting was more efficient and effective with the two harvesters.
- The installation of the Clean Flo system in the north section of Gondola Lagoon will take place this fall after dredging behind the Mews is complete.
- The construction of the south footbridge is complete; however, the paving of the approaches is planned to be completed over the next two months.

Fall Yard Waste

Boats out of the Canal
As per Bylaw 2021.86, please remove all boats from the canal by Tuesday, October 31, 2023. No person shall moor or permit the mooring of any boat, vessel, watercraft, flowing object, boatlift, or floating object or structure in the lagoons between November 1 and March 31.
