Immediate Release
Ramara/April 5, 2024— In order to manage parking in high-demand areas, Ramara Council has approved the Parking Strategy for 2024. Starting from April 8, 2024, residents can purchase their 2024 Parking Pass.
Resident Permit Parking Program
The 2024 Resident Permit program will continue on April 8, 2024, at the following locations:
- On all municipal roadways within Lagoon City (starting at the intersection of Ramara Road 47 and Simcoe Road).
- On Lakeshore Drive from Simcoe Road to Concession Road A, including all intersecting side streets but not Concession roads.
- Municipal Parking lots at Lagoon City Beach and Park and Bluebird Park.
- On-street parking locations at Courtland Street, Whitney Road and Anderson Avenue.
- On-street parking on Popular Lane, Riverleigh Cres and Park Lane Cres.
On April 8, 2024, Ramara residents can register for their two (2) free parking passes and (1) paid parking passes online at ramara.ca/parking or in person at the Township Administration Building located at 2297 Highway 12, Brechin. To apply, residents must know the following information:
- The first and last name(s) on the request form must match municipal records.
- The resident parking permits will be mailed to the address the Township has on file (the same as the address tax bills are sent).
- The license plate(s) information for each parking permit is entered on the form.
Residents should remember to display their resident parking permit face up on the car's mirror with the corresponding vehicle license plate number. They are also reminded to comply with all no-parking restrictions in different areas of the Township by referring to the posted signage.
Special Occasion Parking Permit
Residents may apply for a Special Occasion Parking Permit for visitors to park on Township streets. Applications are only available online, and once approved, permits need to be printed and displayed on the driver's side dash.
A resident must apply seven (7) days in advance for the permit, which is only valid on the street or at or near the municipal address as indicated on the permit. A Special Occasion Parking Permit can be applied for online at www.ramara.ca/parking.
Paid Parking Program
Similar to many municipalities, the Township of Ramara has established a paid parking program at specific municipal lots and on-street locations:
- Municipal Parking Lots at Lagoon City Beach and Park and Bluebird Park
- On-street parking on Lake Avenue in Lagoon City and Courtland Street in Atherley
At each municipal parking lot or on-street parking location, parking costs $5 per hour between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. There will be no overnight parking or unattached trailer parking at either location. The public can pay by downloading the free HonkAPP or the HonkTAP payment option.
With HonkTAP, there is no app to download or pay station to touch; paying for parking is easier and safer than ever. After scanning the QR code, drivers tap on a pop-up notification to open a pre-loaded payment screen with rate options. Drivers type in their license plates and select how long they want to park. The HONK payment system integrates directly with Ramara's parking enforcement, passing paid parking sessions to enforcement officers in real-time.
