Water Conservation Notice for Brechin and Lagoon City
The Township of Ramara is issuing a water conservation notice due to elevated turbidity levels in the raw water (lake water before treatment). Residents are urged to conserve water and avoid non-essential water use during this period.
By limiting your water usage, you will help maintain sufficient water storage and system pressure.
Prepare for Potential Disruptions
If turbidity levels continue to rise, a Boil Water Advisory may be issued. There is also a possibility of reduced water pressure or water supply interruptions until turbidity levels decrease and normal plant operations resume.
Please ensure you have an adequate supply of drinking water and other necessities during this time.
Reason for the Notice:
Turbidity is the cloudiness of water caused by suspended particles such as clay, silt, and organic matter. Natural factors like high precipitation and severe weather can stir up sediment in the raw water. The Lagoon City Water Treatment Plant utilizes a direct filtration process, which means that treating water during high turbidity events takes additional time.
What to do:
- Conserve Water: Limit your water usage to essential needs only, such as drinking, cooking, and basic hygiene.
- Avoid Non-Essential Water Use: Refrain from activities like using dishwashers or washing machines.
- Stay Informed: Check for updates from the Township on the website via the New and Notices page and Alertable.
