Bulk Water Tower Fees
The bulk water rate covers the cost of the maintenance and operation of the water tower. With an increase in costs in capital and operations, staff is suggesting a small increase of $0.50 per cubic to be comparable to local municipalities and cover current and future capital expenses. The Committee approved increasing the bulk water rates from $4 to $4.50 per cubic metre.
2023 Tourism, Culture and Sport Enhancement Grant
The County of Simcoe is accepting applications for their 2023 Tourism, Culture and Sport Enhancement Fund to support and enhance tourism, culture and sports initiatives and events throughout Simcoe County. The Ramara Trails Committee would like to apply through the Trails Infrastructure stream to fabricate and install five gates along the Ramara Trail for $10,000. Committee approved to apply for the grant for the proposed project.
Bylaw to Regulate the Function of the Building Department
Due to changes in processes, technology and Provincial acts, such as More homes Built Faster Act, 2022 (Bill 23) and Build Homes for Everyone Act (Bill 109), the Building department has updated the Building Bylawto reflect the updates. As outlined in the Notice, a statutory public meeting will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The public can submit comments to the Clerk, Jennifer Connor, by 4:00 p.m. on February 27, 2023.
Septic Reinspection - Discretionary Program
The Township of Ramara established the Discretionary Sewage Re-inspection program in 2019 and included all properties that utilize a sewage system within 100 metres of all rivers, streams, lakes and ponds. As of the end of 2022, the majority of all properties were inspected within this program. Committee approved to suspend the Discretionary program. Please note that the Mandatory Program, which inspects properties within 100 metres of the Lake Simcoe shoreline, 100 metres of another body of water within the Lake Simcoe watershed, or near a municipal well or surface water intake area, will still continue. Airport Road and Area Roads Parking Bylaw Amendment
In the winter, Airport road and other local roads see an increase in traffic and parking which creates congestion and elevated parking complaints. Residents who live west of Rama Road also report service disruptions and delays of service and emergency response vehicles as a result of the congestion. Committee approved adding new parking restrictions on Airport Road to ensure the safe movement of traffic.
Street Sweeping Tender
The Township of Ramara received a single bid from A&G - The Road Cleaners LTD to sweep and flush 76.8 km of paved roads. The bid prices for the 2023-2025 years are as follows:
- 2023 - $76,610.00, plus tax
- 2024 - $82,338.80, plus tax
- 2025 - $88,925.00, plus tax
Committee approved to contract A&G The Road Cleaners LTD for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Mosquito Larviciding Program
Committee approved to contract Zimmer Air Services for the application of the Mosquito Larvicide granular and Natural Insect Control for the supply of mosquito larvicide granular (Aquabac 200G) for the 2023 season. The mosquito larviciding program is conducted between April 10, 2023 and May 15, 2023, approximately, in the area of the Township along the shore of Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching and from the Talbot River in the South to Fawn Bay in the north. Ramara Road 47 - Reconstruction - Stone Gate to Concession Road 1
The Township of Ramara received a formal bid evaluation and recommendation from EXP for the Tender ID-19-22 for the Construction of Ramara Road 47. The analysis exampled the eight sections of work with a total comparison average. EXP recommended that the Township of Ramara approve the contract to IPAC Paving Limited for $4,952,310.90. The Committee approved accepting the bid from IPAC Paving Limited to complete the re-construction of Ramara Road 47 from Stone Gate to Concession Road 1.
