Ramara, December 18, 2024 – The Township of Ramara, in partnership with the Ramara Township Public Library, Ramara Recreation, Ramara Fire and Rescue, the Ramara Firefighter's Association, the Brechin Mara Legion, the Brechin & District Lions Club, and community members Susan Potalivo and Jane Lee, has successfully raised a total of $12,609.50 for the Feeding Families Campaign.
The Feeding Families Campaign, which took place from November 20 to December 15, is designed to provide support and resources to families in need during the holiday season. This year, all funds generated and items collected were allocated to assist 33 families residing in the Ramara community.
Mayor Clarke expressed pride in the community's collaborative efforts, stating, "This is our fifth year of the Feeding Families Campaign, and I am very proud of our community for coming together to support one another. With the generosity of our residents, we hope to alleviate some of the stress families experience during the holiday season. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Brechin Mara Legion and the Brechin & District Lions Club, which raised over $4,900 through various events they organized over the last month, including the Brechin Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie campaign and the Breakfast with Santa. I also wish to acknowledge the businesses, individuals and groups, including the Ramara Library Fibre Friends and Washago Lions Club, who contributed hats, mittens, coats, non-perishable food items and monetary donations. As we approach the holiday season, I wish everyone in the community a joyous and safe holiday."
In addition, the Ramara Firefighter's Association organized its 19th annual "Stomp Out Hunger" boot drive on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Brechin Foodland, which successfully raised over $2,800 for local families during the holidays.
Lastly, the Township of Ramara would like to remind all community members that municipal buildings will observe adjusted hours of operation. All municipal facilities will close at noon on December 24, 2024, and will resume normal operations at 9:00 a.m. on January 2, 2025.
