Ramara/May 2, 2024 – On Monday, May 6, eligible Ward 4 voters can vote by internet, telephone or paper for the 2024 Ward 4 By-Election starting at 9:30 a.m.
Voter Information Letters
Voter Information Letters (VILs) were mailed out the week of April 22 to all eligible voters in Ward 4. These letters are required for eligible voters to vote as it contains a confidential PIN number and instructions.
Didn’t receive a VIL?
If you are an eligible voter but did not receive or lost your Voter Instruction Letter (VIL), you must contact our Legislative Services Department and will be required to add or amend your information either online or in person. Eligible voters must complete the Application to Amend the Voters’ List (EL-15 form) and provide proof of identity and residence with an acceptable form of ID. This can be done online by visiting our website at www.ramara.ca/election or in person at the Township Administration Building located at 2297 Highway 12, Brechin. Changes to the Voters’ list can occur electronically up to 7:30 p.m. on voting day (May 13) or in person up until 8 p.m. on voting day. Eligible voters who wish to vote by internet or telephone can vote from May 6 at 9:30 a.m. to May 13 at 8 p.m. Please don’t hesitate to call the office if you have questions about what is acceptable proof of identity and residency.
Who can vote?
You can vote in the 2024 Ramara By-Election if you are:
- A Canadian citizen; and
- 18 years of age or older; and
- A resident of the Township of Ramara within Ward 4 boundary; or
- A non-resident who is, or whose spouse is, an owner or tenant of land in the Township of Ramara within Ward 4 boundary; and
- Not prohibited from voting by law.
How to Vote
Eligible voters can vote by internet, telephone or by paper ballot.
Internet
Using the Voter Information Letter sent directly to the eligible vote, voters can vote by internet starting May 6, 9:30 a.m. to May 13 at 8 p.m. Voting by internet is available anywhere, anytime from a computer or mobile device. Voters can also vote in person during business hours in the Council Chambers located at the Township Administration Building using an election tablet.
Telephone
Using the Voter Information Letter sent directly to the eligible vote, voters can vote by telephone starting May 6, 9:30 a.m. to May 13 at 8 p.m. Voting by telephone is available anywhere, anytime from a telephone or mobile device.
Paper
For eligible voters who wish to vote in person by paper ballot, bring your Voter Information Letter (VIL) and your ID and join us at the Township Administration Building on the following days and times:
- May 6 - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- May 7 - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- May 8 - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- May 9 - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- May 10 - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- May 13 - 10: a.m. to 8 p.m.
As well, eligible voters can cast their paper ballot in person at the Hayloft located in Bayshore Village on the following day and time:
- May 8 – 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Voter Assistance Centre
If you need help voting by internet or phone, please visit our Voter Assistance Centre located at the Township Administration Centre (2297 Highway 12). The Voter Assistance Centre will be opening during the following hours:
- May 6 to 10 - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- May 13 - 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
