Through the Fireworks by-law, the Township regulates the use of fireworks to reduce the risks of using consumer fireworks in residential areas.
Firework Restrictions
Fireworks are not permitted:
- Within the boundary of Lagoon City
- At any Short-Term Rental Accommodation location
- When a Fire Ban is in effect
- On any municipality owned land or roadway
Fireworks Permit
Residents who live in Bayshore Village and all properties within the Township of Ramara zoned Shoreline Residential (SR), Village Residential (VR) and Hamlet (H), as defined in the Township of Ramara Zoning By-law 2005.85, must obtain a Fireworks Permit.
Fireworks are permitted without a permit in the below areas during the following holidays:
- New Year's Eve – between dusk and 1:00 am
- Canada Day – between dusk and 1:00 am
- The weekend prior to Canada Day
- The weekend after Canada Day
- Victoria Day and Labour Day – between dusk and 11:00 pm on the weekend in which the holiday falls
Residents outside of the restricted locations do not require a permit to light off consumer Fireworks at any time of the year.
Apply for Permit
Residents can apply online for a permit to launch fireworks during times when fireworks are prohibited.
Please note that this form is only for those who are applying for the permit for Commercial Use or Residential use and live in Bayshore Village and all properties within the Township of Ramara zoned Shoreline Residential (SR), Village Residential (VR) and Hamlet (H), as defined in the Township of Ramara Zoning By-law 2005.85. Fireworks permits will not be granted to Short-Term Rental Accommodation locations.
Requirements for Fireworks Permit
- A minimum clear area of 30m by 30m for all fireworks;
- No person shall discharge fireworks Within 100 metres of any place where explosives, gasoline or other highly flammable substances are sold or stored;
- Extinguishing agent on hand;
- No fire ban in place;
- Wind speed of 20km/hr is not exceeded;
- Tenants – must have received authorization from owner;
- Must not be on municipally owned land or roadway, and
- Must not be at a Short-Term Rental Accommodation location.

Commercial Fireworks Displays
A permit is always required to discharge commercial fireworks. Submit the application to the Fire Department.
Fireworks Safety
When launching fireworks, all safety requirements listed in the permitting process must be adhered to regardless of the date of your event. This includes the following:
- Have a bucket of sand, water supply or working fire extinguisher on hand and know how to use it.
- Supervise children carefully and ensure spectators are at a safe distance.
- Never hold a lit firework, or try to reignite a "dud" or defective firework.
- Fireworks can be distressing to pets, so keep animals safely indoors when using them.
- No fire ban is in effect.
How do I Properly Dispose of Fireworks
- Do NOT put used or unused fireworks in the recycling bin.
- Before disposing of used or unused fireworks, soak them in water overnight and put them in your household garbage once they have cooled
